About the Event
AAUW Asheville and AAUW WCU presents a program on Universal Femicide: The murder of women, solely based on their gender. Our Zoom program on Tuesday, April 25th at 1 pm, brings together Mickey Randolph, Professor Psychology, Sheyahshe Littledave, Maggie Jackson and Alisha (Osh) Stephens members of the EBCI and hosts of “We are Resilient: A MMIW True Crime Podcast” bringing awareness to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women will focus on femicide of Western North Carolina Cherokee women; Jan Goodwin, award-winning journalist and author who was a Senior Fellow at Brandeis University for 10 years, whose focus is on the Islamic world, which consists of 1/4th of the world's population; and Paul Owen, retired Professor, New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, who has been photo-documenting femicide in Mexico since 2015.
